A combined St. John’s Parish Council of Catholic Women, Knights of Columbus and Lady Knights rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Mary was born on December 16, 1942 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Joseph and Tillie Adams. She was a 1961 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Green Bay. She was united in marriage to Charles (Chuck) Rentmeester on May 11, 1963.
In her early career, she worked at Charmin Paper Company in Green Bay. Later, she worked in Marshfield in the bookkeeping department at M&I Central Bank and Trust for 13 years, was owner/co-manager of Rentmeester’s MC Variety and managed the St. Vincent DePaul Store for 10 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the PCCW and the Lady Knights of Columbus.
As a child, Mary enjoyed swimming and tap dancing. Afflicted with polio, Mary was instrumental in the fundraising to bring an iron lung to the Green Bay community. She loved the outdoors and spending time at the cottage. Cooking family meals brought her joy. This is a skill she learned from her mother, who was a caterer. Her hobbies included reading, embroidery and playing cards. Mary was full of humor and enjoyed telling stories. She had a kind heart and looked out for everyone. Her greatest love came from spending time with her family, playing games, traveling, and especially all of the family holidays.
She will be greatly missed by the love of her life, Charles, daughters Mary Ann (James) Hove of Appleton, Renee (Joseph) Bokota of Wisconsin Dells, son Tom (Lori) Rentmeester of Marshfield, six grandchildren, Lauren (Eric) Balza, Rebecca Hove, Mitchell Hove, Joseph Bokota, Elizabeth and Christina Rentmeester, two great-grandchildren, Sienna Balza and Daniel Hove, sister and brother in law Jerry and Pat Rentmeester, and brother in law, Jerry Butler.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister-in-law, Mary Butler.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of St. Paul Elder Care Services for their wonderful care provided to our wife and mother.
