MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Blue Line Club was created to support and promote the sport of ice hockey in the Marshfield School District. With budget restrictions, funding for the sport is limited, and without the help of the club, the safety and performance needs of hockey players might not be met.
The group formed as a nonprofit organization in 2001 and a few years later began an annual fundraiser.
“This year marks our 14th annual Hockey Unlimited event,” said Sharon Copet, whose daughter participated in the sport.
Copet said that the fundraiser pays for game and practice jerseys, warmup suits, game socks, goalie equipment, electronic needs, annual scholarships, and much more.
“The Blue Line Club also works in conjunction with Marshfield Youth Hockey on shared rink expenses such as improvements to the hockey rink sound system, heaters for the bleachers, scoreboards, the center ice logo, and other rink improvements that benefit all ages of hockey players,” added Copet.
This year’s Hockey Unlimited Dance and Auction will be held Nov. 11 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marshfield.
Auction items include four tickets, a one-night hotel stay, and $100 certificates to a local steakhouse from the Pittsburgh Penguins; a chartered fishing trip and condo stay on Lake Michigan; Badger hockey tickets and hotel accommodations; a pizza a week for a year from Scotty’s Pizza & Chicken; a custom-made fire ring and two Adirondack chairs; a Tiger tailgate package; and more.
The event will feature the final performance of central Wisconsin band Raised Reckless. Raised Reckless plays a mixture of old and new country music with a touch of rock.
Advance tickets may be purchased at Nelson’s Shoe, Scotty’s Pizza & Chicken, and Associated Sales & Leasing but are also available at the door the night of the event.
