Shoppers hit local stores for Black Friday deals

MARSHFIELD – Bargain hunters were out in full force on Thanksgiving night, in search of early Black Friday deals.
Amy Schwantes of Stratford was out looking for deals at the Target store in Marshfield, with her daughter Mikayla.
“We were looking for a tablet, but we didn’t get one, but we got some laser guns and some movies,” Amy said.
Last night was Mikayla’s first Black Friday shopping experience.
“It’s really exciting,” said Mikayla, “more than you would think. Some of them are really crazy – at first you feel rushed, but then as you get into it, it’s a little bit better.”
Meanwhile, Taylor Knoeck, a 2016 Columbus Catholic High School graduate, took advantage of Black Friday deals to score a 32-inch smart television for her college dorm.
“Black Friday is always the best time to get TVs,” she said. “I was thinking about how I wanted a TV, and I knew that my sister had gotten a TV on Black Friday. I just figured that I want to spend the least amount of money as possible, so Black Friday is the time to get it.”
Lisa Schreiber of Marshfield was checking names off her Christmas list, during her second Black Friday experience.
“I love it,” Lisa said. “Everybody gets together, stands in line, talks back and forth about last year’s deals, this year’s deals, their game plans.”
