MARSHFIELD – Nicolas Kumm has been named the new general manager of Marshfield Utilities (MU).
In his position, Kumm will work closely with the senior leadership team and the commission board to pursue the goals and vision of MU that were set out in the department’s strategic plan.
Kumm began his career with MU in 2002, as the electrical engineer and has also served as the power systems engineer and the electric, communications & gas manager, which is his most recent role.
During his 15 years of tenure with MU, Kumm has championed many positive changes and major projects; some of the most notable include the construction of the M-1 Combustion Turbine, substation upgrades, and the implementation of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure. Kumm has also been actively involved with statewide and national industry organizations and serves on a number of committees and boards.
The decision to promote Kumm closes the five month national search where Kumm and more than 40 applicants from across the country applied.
“The ultimate goal of the Board was to find the right strategic leader to take the utility into the future”, stated Mike Eberl, commission president. “Nick showed us throughout the interview process that he would bring the creative vision and proven experience that we were looking for.”
Kumm will replace retiring general manager, Bob Trussoni. He will assume the position Jan. 1.
