January 22
Marshfield woman has unwanted house call
An 89-year-old Marshfield woman reported that sometime between 9:50-10:10 a.m., two adult males came to her residence appearing to work for AT&T. She allowed them inside her residence, although she did not have an appointment. The woman said that the men went into her basement and looked around the exterior of her residence. The men discussed installing an antenna on her home, but no installation took place. When one of the men appeared that he was about to change settings on the woman’s iPad, she told them that she did not want her internet service changed, and they left. The woman said she never ordered service from AT&T and thought it suspicious in addition to an earlier phone call that day from Direct TV.
Medication missing after package delivered to wrong address
A 22-year-old Marshfield woman reported that sometime between Jan. 19-22, a package mailed by her mother was sent to her previous address. The package contained medication and a scarf. The woman went to her old address and asked the 24-year-old woman residing there for the package. The woman gave her the package, containing only the scarf, and denied any knowledge of the medication. Upon being questioned by the police, the woman continued to deny any knowledge of the medication. No further action was taken.
January 23
Man cited after rear-ending Rapids woman
A 63-year-old Rapids woman reported that sometime between 7:25-7:45 a.m., she was involved in a minor vehicle crash at the corner of Veterans Parkway and St. Joseph Avenue. The woman stated that her vehicle was struck in the rear bumper by a 71-year-old male from Friendship, while she was stopped in traffic. Both drivers exchanged information and the man stated that he did not have insurance. It was also discovered that the man had a suspended driving status. The man was cited for no insurance and operating while suspended.
Traffic stop leads to multiple drug charges
During a traffic stop, a 20-year-old Marshfield man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver THC, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked and transported to jail. A 19-year-old female was also cited for resisting an officer.
January 24
Man receives abusive messages intended for another man
A 76-year-old Marshfield man reported that sometime between Jan. 21-23, he received phone calls, voice mails, and text messages which contained verbal abuse, stemming from an alleged Facebook post by an Auburndale man which offended people. The request has been made to remove the Facebook thread from the Auburndale man which contains the poster’s former phone number, which now belongs to the Marshfield man.
Store manager reports forged checks
A Marshfield convenience store manager reported that sometime between Jan. 22-23, two unknown males came into the store on three separate visits and purchased several items with checks she believed to be forged. The manager stated that two of the three times, they were successful, and the third time, they were denied the sale. The suspects were using a rental vehicle belonging to a Green Bay company. Police contacted the name on the checks, and she stated that the checking account had been closed for years.
The same convenience store manager reported that at 10:30 a.m., a female came into the business attempting to purchase multiple items with a check. The manager asked the female to show identification. The woman stated that she didn’t have it and left the store without the check. The owner of the check was contacted, who said that she had not been in the store. The case will be forwarded to the Detective Bureau.
January 25
Marshfield woman reports hit and run
A 49-year-old Marshfield woman reported that sometime between 7:50 a.m.-3:53 p.m., while parked at a North Central Avenue location, her van was struck by an unknown vehicle. The woman stated that a moving company had been parked by her vehicle, but does not know if it was involved. The driver of the moving truck was contacted, who denied having involvement. Inspection of the truck found no damage. A crash report was completed.
Customer leaves in a huff
A Marshfield department store loss prevention employee reported that between 8:05-8:16 a.m., an unidentified male was caught huffing (inhaling) a canister of air duster inside the business. When a staff member confronted the male, he ran out of the business, getting into a vehicle and driving off at a high rate of speed, nearly striking a customer. Surveillance video revealed that the subject also took three bottles of cough medicine. The male was later identified and taken into custody.
Retail theft ends in trip to jail
A Marshfield department store loss prevention employee reported that sometime between 3-3:08 p.m., a 36-year-old Spencer female attempted to take food merchandise without paying for them. Upon searching the woman’s purse, multiple prescription drug medications for which the woman did not have a prescription, were located. The woman was on probation and was taken to the police department, booked, and transported to jail.
January 27
Employee theft caught on camera
A Marshfield restaurant owner reported that sometime between 1-3 p.m. on Jan. 23, a former employee took a $100 that belonged to the restaurant and that the act was captured on multiple security cameras. The owner spoke to the employee, an 18-year-old Richfield man, and he agreed to repay the owner. The money was returned to the restaurant. The owner is investigating other money missing from the cash register at the time the man worked. The Richfield man was questioned on the other missing money, which he denied.
January 28
Orange step ladder stole from Marshfield residence
A 38-year-old Marshfield man reported that sometime between Jan. 17-28, an orange six-foot ladder that he had standing next to his garage had been stolen. A neighborhood canvas was conducted, but was unsuccessful.
January 29
Dog left in apartment
A 30-year-old Marshfield man reported that an upstairs tenant in his residence had returned to Mexico, leaving an adult boxer dog in the apartment. The manager of the apartment building told the man that they would check on dog the following day and try to contact the tenant. The manager did not return the officer’s call. The officer found water and food in the apartment and the dog seemed aggressive.
Man caught huffing whip topping can
A Marshfield grocery store staff member reported that sometime between 5:29-5:44 p.m. on Jan. 23, a 38-year-old Marshfield man entered the store and selected four cans of whip topping. The man then began inhaling the cans, or huffing. As management approached and requested payment, the man disregarded the staff member and exited the store. The man was contacted by officers. He admitted to the incident and was cited for retail theft. Charges are also being sent to the Wood County District Attorney.
