Donald C. Schill, 80, Auburndale, died on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Auburndale. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 468 of Milladore. The visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Monday from 8:30 am until service time at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Donald was born on January 6, 1938 in Marshfield, to Nicholas J. and Helen T. (Cepress) Schill and was a graduate of Auburndale High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He married Lucille M. Spatz on July 13, 1968 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Arpin.
Don had been employed as a breeder for Carnation Genetics, worked at Consolidated Papers, Biron Division, drove milk truck for Arpin Dairy, was a Mallard Seed Dealer and all the while farmed in the Town of Arpin until the present time.
He was a member of the Arpin Lions Club, the Central Wisconsin Guernsey Breeders Association, and volunteered for the Arpin Truck and Tractor Pull. He also began the Arpin Antique Tractor Show and participated in showing cattle at the central Wisconsin State Fair for over 45 years.
Don is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Lucille, and their children, Mary Lou (Vincent) Herman of Auburndale, Renee (John) Serafin, Sr. of Amherst, Randy Schill (Pam Karl) of Auburndale, Chuck Schill (Janel Welniak) of Marshfield, Christopher Schill of Arpin and Kevin (Sandi) Schill of Arpin. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 3 expected. He is further survived by brothers and sisters, Ann (Richard) See, Betty Strub, Lucille (Emil) Oertel, Tom (Lynn) Schill, Sarah (Leonard) Strigel, Joe (Judy) Schill, Kathleen (Marvin) Klawikowski, Mary (Dave) Jepsen, Jane Hahn and Helen (George) Swetz and his mother-in-law, Roselyn Spatz.
He was predeceased by his parents, a son James, a grandson Cody Schill, a brother Richard and his father-in-law, Charles Spatz.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated in Don’s name at a later date.
