John H. Lang, “Jack” Lang, 78, Marshfield, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14th at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, March 13th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday March 14th at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be friends, Gerald Bauer and Allen Koenig; Godchildren, Kelly Cournoyer, Michelle Gorke, Fran Lang, and Patrick Wingert. Church servers will be Marty Draxler, Dale Garfield and Steven Salzmann. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
John was born on July 26, 1939 in Marshfield, to John C. and Regina (Pfahning) Lang. He married Lucille (Lucy) A. Folz on April 23, 1960 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield.
John had served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard Red Arrow Division stationed in Fort Lewis, WA during the 1961/1962 Berlin Crisis. He had been employed at Quality Roofing Company, Schilt’s Standard Station and then at Felker Brothers Manufacturing until his retirement in 1999. While working, he and Lucy also maintained an 80-acre dairy farm in the Town of McMillan for 16 years.
Jack was an old car enthusiast. His greatest passion was his 1946 Ford Coupe that he restored and took to numerous car shows. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, being in the woods, logging and working the fields with his tractor. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
John is survived by his wife, Lucy and their children, Michael John (Sally) Lang and Lisa Marie Lang of Marshfield, Debra Jean (Larry) Lakey of Trempeleau, Lori Ann (John) Salzmann, Richard (Tammy) Lang and Kathy Lang, all of Marshfield. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Justin Lang; Amber (Tyler) Diercks and children, Carter & Rylee; Tammy (Matt) Borchardt and children, Gabriel, Mason, Adalynn, and Shelby; Christopher (Kaila) Burr and children, Jensen and Sawyer; Stacy (Job) Morton and daughter Alexis; Kyle (Kendra) Lakey; Kevin Lakey; Kimberly (Quentin) Moller and daughter Everlee; Steven Salzman; Tim and Jon Bauer; LeeAnn and Dylan Lang.
He is further survived by his brothers and sisters James Lang, Jerald (Debbie) Lang, Jerome (Shirley) Lang, Janice (Richard) Hansen, Judy (Dale) Garfield, Jeannie (Darrell) Paasch and brother in-law William (Bill) Rifleman.
He is predeceased by his parents, John and Regina Lang, a sister, Joanne Wingert Rifleman, an infant sister Jacinta “Cindy” Lang, sisters-in-law Diane Lang and Jeanette Lang and a great grandson Gabriel Borchardt.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Oncology staff and Hospice who cared for John during the past 8 months. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be designated in John’s name to St John’s Catholic Church Maintenance Trust.
