Mental health classes to be offered in Marshfield
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Peer-to-Peer is a 10-session recovery course for adults living with mental health challenges. Taught by a trained team of peers who are personally experienced at living well with a mental health condition, the course includes presentations, discussion, and interactive exercises.
The program provides information about mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia; help understanding personal experience; and resources on how to manage the ups and downs and create balance in life.
One in five people are affected by a mental health condition. Those who experience mental health conditions, and their family members and loved ones, may have to cope with multiple hospitalizations, employment and financial problems, suicide attempts, legal issues, poor housing options, stigma, and insufficient medical insurance.
The program begins April 16, 6:30-9 pm. and will be held at A Better Way Clubhouse, 205 S. Cherry Ave, Marshfield.
