For Hub City Times

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Clinic Health System and Healthy Lifestyles-Marshfield Area Coalition invite community members to “think spring” and sign up to be part of the Growing Together community gardens.

Garden beds are available at three locations throughout Marshfield. Gardeners can rent a 4 x 8-foot bed and grow produce for their own use. A donation and three hours of volunteer time for site maintenance is requested. Garden orientation and instruction is provided.

Community members can enhance garden programming by volunteering in a variety of ways:

  • Help prepare garden beds for spring planting on May 5, 12, and 15.
  • Serve as Garden Buds instructors and growers with Marshfield Clinic Youth Net and lead students in garden-related activities every Thursday from 4:45-5:30 p.m. or ensure garden beds are productive and well-maintained on your own time.
  • Become a community garden volunteer and help maintain community garden sites by weeding garden perimeters, maintaining garden fences, or monitoring compost bins and site water supply. Volunteer groups are welcome.

For more information on volunteering or garden registration visit www.MarshfieldHealthyLifestyles.org or contact George Bloome at 715-221-8400 or healthy.lifestyles@marshfieldclinic.org.
