James J. Bauer, 82, Marshfield, died on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church.
James was born on August 9, 1935 in the Town of Pelsdorf, Clark County, to Paul and Lorene (Hubing) Bauer and attended Loyal schools. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from August 4, 1955 until his honorable discharge on March 12, 1957. In 1960 he began working in the electrical department at Rollohome and in 1961 he became employed as a journeyman electrician at K & M Electric until 1970 when he became employed at M & S Electric until 1980. He then was employed at E-Con Electric until his retirement in March 1999.
Jim married Lucille L. Wucherpfennig on May 21, 1960 in Loyal and they had been married for almost 58 years. He had been an electrician but was born a farmer and maintained a hobby farm his entire life. He loved his church, his family and his farm. The Bauer’s enjoyed yearly trips to Las Vegas with their long-time friends Stan and Darlene Hein and Stan and Barb Backus.
He is survived by his children, Kurt (Kim) Bauer, Jeffrey (Cathryn) Bauer, all of Appleton, Kevin (Dana) Bauer of Spokane, WA, and Brenda (Jay) Schreiner of Marshfield. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Candy (Jake) Zschernitz, Crystal (Brian) Varsho, Brooke (Jon) Smrecek, Jordan (Jenny) Bauer, Bailey (fiancé – Jared Kissinger) Bauer, Dallas Bauer, Brady Bauer, Taylor Schreiner and Austin Schreiner and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
The family will designate a memorial in Jim’s name at a later date.
