Dorothy C. Kolb, 96, Stratford, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County, and serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Jake Kolb, Isaac Kolb, Dan Phelps, Mike Phelps, Jared Kolb, Corben Phelps, Chase Johnson, Kieran Kolb, David Kolb, and Brandon Tate. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Shelley Tate, Kristen Johnson, Baylee Kolb and Jaiden Kolb. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Dorothy was born on November 11, 1921 at home in Stratford, the daughter of Mathias and Katherine (Hensen) Steines and attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School.
As a young lady she was employed in domestic work in Wausau and then worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield until her marriage. She was united in marriage to Joseph J. Kolb on September 12, 1944 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford. He died on August 31, 1997.
After their marriage the Kolb’s farmed in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County until their retirement in November 1982 when they moved to the village of Stratford.
Dorothy enjoyed playing cards and her family. She was a life long member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Parish Council of Catholic Women of which she served as treasurer and the 97 Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her children, Joan Kolb of Stratford, Al (Earlene) Kolb of Green Bay, Marvin Kolb of Grants Pass, Oregon, Kay Phelps, Joe Jr. (Sheryl) Kolb, and Mary (James) Ness, all of Marshfield, Janel (John) Frank of Wisconsin Rapids and Kenan (Janet) Kolb of Rosemount, MN. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Patricia Kolb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Katie Steines, her husband, Joe, 2 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Memorials may be designated in her name to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
