MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chapter of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association will host its annual Founders Day dinner on May 8, at RiverEdge Golf Course.
The dinner celebrates the founding of the university and provides the club an opportunity to honor a local citizen for service.
The featured speaker this year will be Mike Leckrone, director of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, a position he has held since 1969. Under his direction the band instituted the “Fifth Quarter.”
Leckrone also developed the Spring Band Concert, held at the Kohl Center, drawing upwards of 25,000 people. His entrance into the start of the concert is a special treat, as he’s been known to fly in from the ceiling, on wires, aboard a giant cow or maybe a chunk of Wisconsin cheese.
The event is open to the public. For more information, visit uwalumni.com/foundersday or 888-WIS-ALUM (947-2586) by May 1.
