Irene F. Jonas, 99, Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Three Oaks Health Services, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville, with Reverend Savarimuthu Selvalaj and Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. A granddaughter, Erica Weigel, will be the organist. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery and grandsons, Russell, Robert, Kevin, Jeremy and Joshua Jonas and Eric, Joseph and Marc Poehnelt will serve as pallbearers. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Irene was born on October 22, 1918 to John and Regina (Straka) Schuster. On June 8, 1944, she and John M. Jonas were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He died on September 3, 2003.
She belonged to the Corpus Christi PCCW and Garden Club. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, gardening, and she was especially proud of her Easter Egg Tree. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, because “family says it all.”
She is survived by her children, Beatrice (Eugene) Erickson of Marshfield, Michael (Carol) Jonas of Marshfield, Harold (Sandy) Jonas of Arpin, Elizabeth (John) Poehnelt of Willard, and Raymond (Diane) Jonas of Marshfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Russell (Tracy) Jonas, Robert Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Lori (Marty) Foix, Erica Weigel, Eric (Angelic) Poehnelt, Joseph (Lucia) Poehnelt, Marc Poehnelt, Jeremy Jonas, Joshua (Amy) Jonas, a step-grandaughter, Julie Poehnelt (Ron Cole), and 8 great grandchildren.
She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Marie Trulen and Doris Jonas.
She was predeceased by her husband, brother, Frank Schuster, and sisters, Josephine Konardy, Anna Martin, Rosemarie Zinthefer, and Helen Schuster.
In leau of flowers, memorials may be designated in Irene’s name to the Marshfield Area Respite Care Center (MARCC), 205 E 3rd St, Marshfield, WI 54449.
