Marshfield Tiger boys golf team takes fifth, twice

MARSHFIELD – On April 27, the Tigers competed in the first leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference meet at the Ridges Golf Course. Marshfield finished in fifth place, with a team score of 359. Wausau West was the team winner with 327. D.C. Everest finished in second place at 342, followed by Stevens Point at 351. Wisconsin Rapids finished fourth at 357, just two shots ahead of Marshfield. Merrill was sixth and Wausau East was seventh.
For Marshfield, Nate Boson shot a round of 81. That was good enough for fifth place overall. Ben Bauer had a round of 86, and putting him in 10th place. Other Tiger finishers were Josh Gruen, with a round of 93, Jeffrey Berres at 99, and Jaxon Bulgrin with a round of 104. Ben Langlois of Wausau West was the top individual finisher with a round of 75.
The Tigers also competed April 28 at the Singh Grewal Invitational at River Run Golf Course in Sparta. Marshfield again finished in fifth place as a team, with a score of 346. Middleton was the team winner, with a round of 324. Tomah was second, Holmen third, and Baraboo fourth, just one shot ahead of the Tigers.
For Marshfield, Cole Hanson had a round of 85, followed by Gruen with 86, Bauer with 87, Berres with 88, and Boson with 93.
