NEILLSVILLE, WI — A Clark County man accused of causing an accident that killed two Neillsville women in Dec. 2017 entered an innocent plea to six felony charges on June 4.
Trenton Bemis is accused of two counts of homicide by the intoxicated use of a vehicle, two counts of homicide by use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration, and two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.
The crash occurred Dec. 15 after Bemis and some friends had spent the night bowling. He was driving on Highway 10 in the Town of Pine Valley when his pickup crossed the center line and crashed head-on with the vehicle driven by 29-year-old Michelle L. Kunze. She and Genie Carrillo, 35, were killed in the incident. Both women were single mothers.
Bemis’ blood alcohol content was four times the legal limit at the time of the crash, and he told investigators that he had consumed “about five beers” before getting behind the wheel.
