MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Chaparrals rattled off 11 consecutive wins heading into competition this week versus the Eau Claire Cavaliers and the Everest Merchants July 18 and 19 at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield defeated Plover 3-1 on July 11 at Hackman Field. The Chaparrals took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Austin Littman and a Plover fielding error which allowed Bobby Pilz to score, after he had walked earlier in the inning. The game became a pitchers duel after that. There would not be another run until Marshfield scored again in the sixth inning. An RBI single by Littman scored Pilz from second base, and the Chaps led 3-0. Plover scored a run in the eighth inning, but it was too little too late. Hunter Korger got the win for the Chaps. He struck out four and walked two over eight innings. Kade Lancour closed out the win for Marshfield. Littman led the Chaps with two runs batted in. Riley Erickson had a double. Bobby Pilz went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and Jack Donahue went 1-for-2.
Marshfield is at Medford on July 21, followed by a game with Minocqua on July 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field.
