MARSHFIELD – A man was struck and killed by a passing train in the 100 block of North Central Avenue in Marshfield.

On July 28, just before midnight, the Marshfield Police Department and Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded to a call of pedestrian being struck by a train. Responding officers located an adult male on the north side of the train tracks.

The man, Anthony T. Carolfi, 34, of Marshfield, did not have a pulse and was not breathing. Efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful.

Preliminary investigation indicates the man accidentally went in front of the train and the lighting for the train arms and train horn were functioning and activated.
