Tiger volleyball takes seventh
MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Tiger volleyball team took seventh place at the Sun Prairie Invitational Aug. 24-25. The Tigers went 2-2 during the second day of competition, going 2-7 for the two-day event. Marshfield lost to Luxemburg-Casco 20-25, 21-25, followed by a loss to Beaver Dam 12-25, 23-25. Marshfield then rebounded by beating De Pere 25-17, 18-25, 15-12. The Tigers then defeated Edgewood 25-15, 25-23.
Karly Nikolai led the Tigers with 27 kills. Lindsey Steffen added 16 kills. Taylor Barwick recorded 67 assists, Kaydee Johnson had 45 digs and Kati Sadowska contributed 23 digs.
Marshfield will host Wisconsin Rapids Aug. 30 to open Wisconsin Valley play, followed by the Marshfield tournament Sept. 1.
Auburndale goes 6-1 at Green Bay
The Auburndale volleyball team competed at the Green Bay East Invitational Aug. 25, and the Apaches did very well, going 6-1. Auburndale had wins over Green Bay East, Southern Door, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, Menasha, New London and Sheboygan Christian. Auburndale’s only loss came against Plymouth.
The Apaches were led by Mackenzie Raab with 32 kills, 40 digs, and 56 assists. She also had eight aces. Maggie Willfahrt led the team in digs with 65. Izzy Hilber had 24 kills. Alexis Soppe contributed 20 kills and 18 digs, while Bri Haasl had 26 digs. Teryn Lau added 22 digs and 29 kills, and Georgi Schmutzer had 29 digs and 49 assists.
Auburndale competes at the Greenwood tournament Aug.30. The Apaches host Wausau Newman Sept. 4, followed by the Auburndale Invitational Sept. 8.
