Kristi Leigh Huebschen
Kristi Huebschen, formerly known as Kristi Brandner, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin due to complications following heart surgery. She was 57 years old. Kristi was born March 8, 1961 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Nancy Markowski and Byron C. Huebschen. She attended Bayview High School in Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.
Kristi was known for her generosity and passion for helping others. As an educator for Marshfield Clinic, she guided people through career changes and life’s challenges. She found strength in her church community as a member of First Presbyterian’s “Green Team”. Kristi was an active member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) sisterhood, working to further educational opportunities for women.
Kristi loved to volunteer and share her spirit. A creative soul, Kristi advanced the causes of New Visions Art Gallery and revitalized the library of her church to create a more inviting atmosphere. Kristi was a host for Marshfield Cable Access’s “It’s Happening!”, a show profiling interesting events and notable residents of the Marshfield area. Through her ventures, she was a source of joy and light to her family, friends, and neighbors.
Kristi felt the spark for travel from a young age. Her journeys took her across oceans to Europe, Turkey and Hawaii. She adored the historical architecture and the serene beauty of her surroundings. When Kristi wasn’t traveling, she was immersed in reading novels and stories, traveling the world through the words of others.
She is survived by her sons, Nathaniel and Heath (Leah); her parents, Byron (Marsha) and Nan; brothers Byron (Crystal), David (Lynne), Paul (Jessica), and Jamie. Her dog, Tessa, was a faithful and loyal companion through her final days. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kimm.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 22, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 200 S Lincoln Ave, Marshfield, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org or the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation at umdf.org.
