Stratford’s Barten picks the Badgers
By City Times staff
MARSHFIELD – Stratford’s Ben Barten has given a verbal commitment to play college football for the Wisconsin Badgers. The Stratford junior gave a verbal commitment Oct. 28.
Barten could be playing football at Camp Randall Stadium a lot sooner than two years from now, though. Barten’s Stratford Tigers face the Spencer/Columbus Rockets Nov. 9 in a Division 5 semifinal game at Medford. The winner moves on to the Division 5 championship game Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. in Madison.
The 6’ 7”, 250-pound offensive and defensive lineman has been getting a lot of Division 1 attention—mostly from Wisconsin and Iowa—but also from South Dakota State and North Dakota State, and Notre Dame.
Barten will likely serve as an offensive guard in college, but may get some consideration at center.
