Tiger teams lose to D.C. Everest

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys basketball team suffered a tough loss to D.C. Everest on Dec. 18, losing to the Evergreens 62-59 at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse. The Evergreens ran their record to 6-1, including a perfect 3-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Everest held an early advantage, taking a 36-30 lead into halftime. The Tigers stormed back to make it a close game in the second half, but Everest was able to withstand the charge and escaped with a win.
Marshfield got 22 points from Brant Bohman and 17 points from Isaac Meverden. Preston Wagner added 13 points for the Tigers.
Bryan Halambeck led the Evergreens with 17 points. Zion Turner added 13 and Alec Stuedemann had 11.
The Tigers next will play at the Waunakee Invitational Dec. 27-28.
The Tiger girls, meanwhile, also lost to the Evergreens Dec. 18, getting beat in Schofield 44-42. D.C. Everest got a last second shot from Hanna Stuedemann off a missed free throw to give the Evergreens the win. Everest had a 22-16 advantage going into halftime and was able to hold off a Marshfield rally in the second half to preserve the victory.
Marshfield got 14 points from Kaydee Johnson, who was 8-8 from the free throw line. Jenna Jakobi added 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Alexis Wojnowiak led Everest with 12 points. Malorie Schmoll added 11, and Hannah Stuedemann also scored 11 for the Evergreens.
The Tiger girls will host Hudson and Oshkosh-North on Dec. 27-28 at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse.
