AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys and girls basketball teams took Rib Lake in a doubleheader at Auburndale High School on Feb. 1.

The Auburndale girls met Rib Lake in the first game of the doubleheader, and the first half set the tone for the Apache girls as they went into halftime with a 42-8 lead. Rib Lake’s shooting improved in the second half; however, the Auburndale lead was too much for them as the game ended with a final score of 71-28.

Macie Schmeiser of Auburndale was high scorer for the night with 11. Kaitlin Kundinger added 10.

The boy’s teams played next and did not disappoint the fans. The Apaches had a small lead at the half, 27-24, but Rib Lake fought hard and forced the game into overtime. Auburndale was able to outscore their opponent in overtime and won the game 54-51.

Cooper Weinfurter and Colton Wright each had 14 points for the Apaches.

The Apache girls play next on Feb. 5 at Edgar. The boys face Marawood South rival, Assumption, at home on Feb. 4.
