Colby girls headed to state

WAUSAU – The Colby girls basketball team is headed to state after a WIAA Division 4 sectional final win against the Crandon Cardinals at Wausau West High School on March 2.
The Hornet girls took an early lead in the game and never looked back, ending halftime 32-24. Free throws were huge for the team, with only two missed the entire game. Colby won the game 67-50 and will face Melrose-Mindoro March 7 at 6:35 p.m. at the Resch Center, Green Bay, in state semifinals.
Vanessa Lopez was high for Colby with 18, Hailey Voelker added 17, Alyssa Underwood had 16, and Ashley Streveler added 12.
Tabitha Renkas was high for Crandon with 19, Alexa Neilitz had 12, and Micasslyn Crawford added 10.
