Spencer grocery store will close

MARSHFIELD – Great Lakes Foods in Spencer has announced that they will be closing their doors.
“With the change in the dynamics of the economy and peoples’ shopping patterns, it was necessary for us to close this location,” Owner Andy Cveykus said in a release.
“We want to thank all our employees for their hard work and dedication to make this store happen. We also want to thank the Spencer community for giving us the opportunity to serve them.”
Though the grocery store is closing, John Baltus said that the fuel pumps will remain open.
The Baltus Company leases the fuel dispensing station and will retain services in that capacity.
“We’ve developed a significant following of customers in Spencer, plus we’ve established a Spencer Rockets ‘Pride Pump’ there, where we donate two cents per gallon to the Spencer school district, so I believe we’ll still operate successfully there even without the presence of Great Lakes Foods.”
A liquidation sale will begin in the grocery store on April 4 and continue through April 20.
