WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield American Legion Blue Devils have lost seven of their last nine games. After breaking a six-game skid by sweeping a doubleheader with Onalaska on July 14, Post 54 was back in the loss column last night, falling to Wisconsin Rapids 8-0 at Witter Field.
Marshfield starting pitcher Mason Coffren surrendered two runs on three hits in the first inning, gave up another run in the third, and three more in the fourth. While taking the loss after three-and-a-third innings, Coffren gave up six runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out two.
The Rangers added two more runs in the sixth inning off reliever Cole Hediger.
The Blue Devils managed only three hits and five base runners all night – none of them scoring.
Marshfield saw its record drop to 13-19 heading into the July 16 regular season finale with Eau Claire at 5 p.m. at Hackman Field. |
