PITTSVILLE — Auburndale took an early lead but could not hold on and lost to Pittsville 4-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Friday at Pittsville High School.
Auburndale (1-2, 0-2 Marawood South) led 2-0 after one inning but could not muster another run the rest of the way.
Pittsville (7-3, 2-1 Marawood South) scored once in the fourth and pulled away with a three-run sixth against Auburndale pitcher Paul Willfahrt.
Willfahrt struck out three, did not walk a batter, and allowed just four hits in the loss.
Auburndale returns to action Tuesday at home against Marathon.
