MARSHFIELD — Authorities have released the names of the two individuals who were thrown from their horse-drawn wagon when struck by a pickup truck in the town of Hansen on Friday, Nov. 20. Thirty-one-year-old Christian C. Kempf has passed away after sustaining severe injuries from the crash, and his son, 10-year-old Melvin C. Kempf, was in critical condition as of late Monday morning at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The Kempfs are from Vesper.
The Kempfs’ horse-drawn wagon was struck on County Highway HH by the pickup truck of 31-year-old Seth M. Nelson of Necedah, according to a Nov. 20 press release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. The release said alcohol was “believed to be a factor” in the crash.
An account to help support the Kempf family has been established and may be visited at the following link: gofundme.com/wvbmef5g.
