UW-Marshfield/Wood County showcasing student artwork
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — The public is invited to attend the 19th annual Student Art Exhibit on display in Gallery 450 at the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County Campus. An art reception will be held from noon – 1 p.m. on May 11.
The exhibit features 150 pieces of artwork created by UW-Marshfield/Wood County students.
The UW-Marshfield/Wood County art department serves all students — from nonmajors to those interested in pursuing a degree in fine or applied arts — and provides a wide range of instruction in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, 2-D and 3-D design, and printmaking. In addition, the department offers an array of courses in art history and appreciation, which complements the requirements of an art foundation program to prepare students for success at the baccalaureate level.
Gallery 450 serves as a teaching gallery with the UW-Marshfield/Wood County art students and the community, continuously using the current display for study. It also serves as a place for professional artists from central Wisconsin and beyond to showcase their work while sharing their expertise. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and the gallery is also open during most music and theater performances.
