MARSHFIELD — Marshfield public school lunch prices will not increase for the 2017-2018 school year.
During the May 10 meeting of the Marshfield School Board, a recommendation was brought forward by the district’s Finance Committee to keep the lunch costs the same for the upcoming school year.
“We compared across the area from Green Bay, Wausau, (Wisconsin) Rapids, Antigo, D.C. Everest, Merrill, Nekoosa, Stevens Point, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Eau Claire, and La Crosse,” Finance Committee chair Amber Kiggens-Leifheit said. “What food service is recommending is that this year we do not increase our prices.”
Kiggens-Leifheit also told the board that substitute teacher pay rates and summer school and extracurricular pay will be further reviewed by the Employee Relations Committee before heading back to the Finance Committee.
The board approved two motions to increase the base wage for both administrative and district level staff for the School District of Marshfield. A four-to-one vote passed the administrative wage increase. Mary Carney voted against, and Frances Bohon abstained. The district level staff wage increase passed 5 to 0 with Bohon abstaining a second time.
Employee Relations Committee chair Marlene Stueland explained the 2.07 percent increase of administrative wages was consistent with wage increases of other staff within the district.
