MARSHFIELD — Sixty-five students participated in the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County commencement ceremony held May 19 at the Helen Connor Laird Theater on the university’s campus.
A total of 56 students were acknowledged as receiving their Associates of Arts & Science degree for the fall 2016, spring 2017, and summer 2017 terms, and nine individuals completed their Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences in the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters.
“I really am proud to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield,” said Associate of Arts & Science degree recipient Stephanie DeCaire. “It’s really great to have professors that just care about you and what you are doing with your life and how you are going to make a difference.”
DeCaire will move on to UW-Stevens Point to pursue a degree in elementary education and may later obtain her master’s degree in counseling.
During the evening ceremony, Natalia Detwyler, senior lecturer of world languages at UW-Marshfield/Wood County, received the Teaching Excellence award; Ginger Sternweis was presented with the William P. Pors award; and Carly Rhyner was designated the campus’ Scholar Athlete.
