MARSHFIELD – The postseason accolades continue coming in for Marshfield High School athletes.
The Tiger soccer team landed two players on the first-team all-conference roster. Sophomores Anna Paape and Nina Hashimoto are members of this year’s All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Soccer Team. Paape was a defensive standout while Hashimoto was the second-leading scorer.
They led a Cinderella-type team that finished the season 5-9-4, but also made it all the way to the Division 2 sectional semifinals. The Tigers had three honorable mention selections for 2018. They are Kate Schilling, Nicole Simon, and Makenna Hart.
Maddie Simpson of D.C. Everest was the Player of the Year in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Meanwhile, the Marshfield softball team had the co-player of the year in the Valley. Tiger senior Megan Donahue shared the award with Ally Miklesh of Stevens Point.
Donahue was both a dominant pitcher and hitter for Marshfield this past season. She hit .592 in the Valley, knocked a conference-high seven home runs, and drove in 23 runs. In the pitching circle, Donahue saw work in each of Marshfield’s 12 conference games. Her pitching win-loss record was 8-2. Megan walked 34 batters while striking out 98.
Donahue was one of four Tigers who were chosen for first-team all-conference honors. The others were Emily Draeger, Jenna Jakobi, and Morgan Nordbeck. The Tigers also placed two players on the all-conference second team. They are Kate Konrardy and Rhiannon Corozolla. Jordan Pretsch, meanwhile, was chosen as an honorable mention.
The Tigers ended their season 22-5 overall, and 10-2 in the Valley behind Stevens Point.
The Coach of the Year award went to Tom Drohner of Stevens Point.
