August 14
Woman reports tattle tale
At 2:22 p.m., a 39-year-old Marshfield woman called to report that while she had been off from work over the past week a female had called in anonymously to her employer to report things the 39-year-old woman had done in hopes to get her terminated. The woman gave a possible suspect. Upon questioning, the suspect admitted she had made the call but only because she thought the employer should know about the first woman’s past. Police told the woman not to contact the victim’s employer or significant other anymore or citations could be issued.
August 15
Taken advantage of
At 7:01 p.m., a 60-year-old woman reported that she had given a 63-year-old Marshfield woman her debit card to take care of running some errands for her and paying some bills while she was unable. The 60-year-old woman believes the other woman is using the card to take cash out and keeping it for herself. This matter is currently under investigation.
August 18
Local woman victim of E-bay fraud
At 8:50 a.m., a 71-year-old woman reported that she and her daughter had attempted to purchase a motor home off of E-bay Motors. They placed a down payment of $2,500 using E-bay cards. Shortly after making the down payment, they could not find the listing for the motor home. They attempted contact using the phone number that was on the listing and the phone number didn’t work anymore. They also contacted E-bay Motors who stated they had no record of the listed item.
Finding a parking spot
At 10:30 a.m., a Marshfield man reported that several individuals had gone to a local park and moved picnic tables from the area and proceeded to park their vehicles in the grass where the picnic tables had been. This incident is being investigated with video footage and any identified suspects could be cited for their behavior.
August 19
When dating apps go bad
At 5:02 a.m., a 21-year-old Marshfield man reported that he was being blackmailed online. He met an anonymous woman on a dating site and had started Skype video messaging her. The female took screenshots of the Marshfield man in a sexual nature and then threatened to send the photos to his employer, family and friends if he didn’t pay her money. He sent a money gram and then was asked for even more money. The man was given information to file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center, IC3.
August 20
Zoo thief steals dough
At 8:08 a.m., a city employee called to report that someone had broken into a locked steel donation container and had stolen the cash donations inside sometime over the past weekend. No useful evidence was found. There are no suspects at this time.
