Alexander House exhibits feature mixed media, glass art

Posted

PORT EDWARDS – Two new exhibits will take the spotlight at Alexander House, featuring mixed media and glass art from Wisconsin artists.

The first, “Out From Under the Bed,” highlights the mixed media of Jeanine Blank. Often created in solitude, the Appleton artist’s drawings and prints include pencil, pen and the printmaker’s press.

“I was born an artist. Art has always been with me—my way to process, to calm and to remember beauty,” Blank said in a release. “There is so much beauty we miss. Art helps me see it.”

“A Touch of Glass” by Amherst’s Tammy Rae Wolter features jewelry from Borosilicate glass. Wolter creates her work in a repurposed 1888 church, where she also offers classes and open studio hours.

An opening reception with both artists will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Alexander House, 1131 Wisconsin River Dr., Port Edwards. The exhibits run through June 24.
