MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield School Board has begun its annual Open Enrollment Designation of Spaces process, which identifies enrollment capacity and available space by grade level across the district for the 2026-27 school year.
The designation outlines current enrollment, projected enrollment and remaining capacity for each grade.
According to the report, 4K classes currently average 15 students per class.
With a total capacity of 220 seats and a projected enrollment of 164 students, the district has 56 available 4K spaces.
Each grade level has its own enrollment capacity and projections.
Additional information is available on the district’s website at www.marshfieldschools.org/district-mfld/school-board.
On Jan. 14, the board also approved the renewal of administrator contracts for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years.
Superintendent Ryan Christianson explained that administrators are employed on two-year contracts and are divided into two groups based on their hire dates.
As a result, approval applies to approximately three-quarters of the district’s administrative staff.
The motion was approved unanimously.
In other business, the board approved the renewal of the boys’ and girls’ hockey cooperative agreements for Marshfield High School for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 seasons.
Under the agreement, Marshfield serves as the lead school, with Columbus Catholic students interested in participating on Marshfield’s hockey teams.
For the girls’ renewal, Marshfield and Columbus Catholic High Schools are two of nine members of the Wisconsin Valley Union Girls Hockey Co-op, led by Stevens Point Area Senior High School.
Program costs, including coaching, uniforms and transportation, are shared on a per-player basis.
Ice and user fees are excluded from the shared cost calculation.
The agreement also includes provisions for liability insurance and emergency medical coverage.
Approval of the cooperative agreement requires authorization from both school districts and their governing boards, as well as approval from the athletic conference.
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Board of Control has the authority to approve or terminate the agreement.
The cooperative arrangement also affects team classification for WIAA tournament play.
